In The Family for 37 years

Our parents purchased their first Restaurant in 1986 and that day we were born into the hospitality industry. From as early as 12yrs we washed dishes and waited on tables.

In 2001 We became custodians of Tom Browns after purchasing the restaurant from our parents. We traded this wonderful venue successfully until we sold it as a going concern in January 2022.

It combined the stunning charm and character of an Old Victorian School House with an elegant, contemporary interior which we regularly refurbed to keep fresh. Our Parents named the restaurant 'Tom Browns', after the famous novel by Sir Thomas Hughes Tom Browns School Days.

Sitting on the leafy banks of the River Trent it offered some gorgeous views of the river, especially from the heated alfresco dining terrace. We are very proud of gaining  two AA Rosettes (2008-2022) & Michelin Restaurant Guide 2018/19 entry; and worked exceptionally hard to deliver consistent quality.

Consistency is Key

Over the years we built a reputation as one of the best restaurants in Nottinghamshire.

We prided ourselves on serving fantastic quality cuisine and providing superb consistent service. The secret to a restaurant being busy and having longevity is being consistent.

We had a very loyal fan base from the County and beyond.

We believe your meal should be enjoyed with great conversation and our staff aimed to let you enjoy your company whilst offering some of the best drinks we could get our hands on. Our wine list was diverse yet accessible and we had a great selection of mainstream and craft beers.

Our cocktail list was also a massive hit with School themed nods such as The Apple based cocktail "Teachers Pet"

Creative

Our main reputation stemmed from the quality of the food. It was simple and classic in one respect yet imaginative and creative in another.

The menus were designed to be approachable and there was something for everyone to choose from.

We launched Afternoon Tea in 2015

and gave it a creative, quirky twist with grass, mini picnic bench and 'Keep Off The grass sign. This was a practical touch too so that guests wouldn't clutter the area before the picnic bench was presented to guests with a "wow!".

This was always a great talking point and incredibly popular. Helping to really busy up our Lunches.

Events

We became very famous locally for our  special events schedule, it kept customers engaged and also talking about us where we had a large social media presence.

We hosted fine dining events and live music party nights. The most popular was our famous Beaujolais Breakfast Party in our 300 seater marquee. We also hosted two highly extravagant balls, one in winter and  one in the summer. They were black tie events with amazing food, entertainment and International DJs. We also hosted a handful of beautiful bespoke wedding receptions throughout the year.

Were incredibly proud of what we achieved !.
